Becoming a father: The second trimester of pregnancy

The second trimester is a wonderfully exciting time for both parents to be. It’s a time without morning sickness and a time of improved sex life but most of all it’s a time to enjoy new experiences and share the love of new life with friends and family.

By the time the second trimester has come around, most guys are starting to get used to the idea of becoming a dad. Some of the initial stresses and worries they experienced in the early stages of the pregnancy are fading away and they are being replaced with plenty of excitement and joy.

Gaz is the first to admit that the first trimester was pretty difficult for both him and his partner. A rough time with morning sickness had left them a little disillusioned with whole ‘miracle of life’ thing.  Then along came the second trimester and many aspects of the pregnancy and their lives improved remarkably, not least their sex life.

Just as Leroy was winding down after the stress and worry he put himself through early in the pregnancy he was given an uppercut that he never saw coming – his partner wanted to have a home birth. To Leroy’s credit he went from not knowing that home births existed to being a fully enthusiastic supporter of his partner’s decision.

As the initial shock had started to subside Tim found himself coming around the prospect of becoming a father. Now that his wife was feeling much better and he was more emotionally stable, their pregnancy became something they could really enjoy together.

Bonding with the baby and with your partner is a very rewarding and fulfilling part of pregnancy. Stuart went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to supporting his wife through the second trimester. Attending every appointment and listening in to bub’s hear beat are just a couple of the ways he made sure their pregnancy progressed smoothly.

Steve was still struggling with the fact that he constantly had to leave his pregnant wife at home while he flew off to work for weeks at a time. Luckily for him he was able to spend a good amount of time at home throughout the second trimester which he spent attending appointments with his wife and getting to know his little baby girl.
