Is your child getting ready to start or return to school? A recent study by Murdoch Childrens found that up to 40 per cent of children have a sleep problem within the first six months of starting primary school, which is affecting their own, and their parent’s mental health.
Here are some tips researchers have shared to help your child get a good night sleep – and the best possible start at school.
- Set a bedtime routine and stick to that routine
- Set strict bedtimes
- Limit media usage in the hours leading up to bedtime
- No caffeine consumption
- Teach your child to fall sleep without you having to be present
