Mundaring Sculpture Park was created in 1988 as an art exhibition amidst nature’s own art, but has since had a huge upgrade with the addition of a fantastic playground in March 2016.
Currently only the front part of the park near the playground equipment is fenced. Where the playground equipment has a boardwalk to see the art sculptures, there is no fencing. Work is continuing.
Activities include:
- Beautiful musical instruments to play made out of metal and wood
- Water play feature
- Nature based play playground – tree stumps and stairs to climb, hollowed trees as cubbies, bridges, rocks to climb across, rope swings.
- Adventure playground (beware some sharp drops where no bar prevents falling for little kids) – slides, climbing wall, fireman’s pole, large spider-web climbing frame with spiral slide, swings, roundabout.
- Sandpit with ornate crevice dragon where kids can dig for her eggs and insects.
- Admiring the artistic sculptures by 8 WA artists.
- Exploring Australian nature including Golden Wattles, gums, and wildflowers.
- There is a small amphitheatre adjacent to the park which can be used for community events, summer concerts or as a meeting place.
- The Railway Reserves Heritage Trail runs through the park, which is also the start of the 1000km Munda Biddi Trail.
